KORNEEL DECAE

Korneel was born in Belgium, 1994, and took classical piano and trumpet lessons aged 8. A couple of years later, he combined this with percussion lessons and shifted his focus more towards jazz piano. At age of 18, Korneel successfully auditioned for LUCA School of Arts, Leuven, where he obtained his Master of Arts in classical percussion (2017) and Master of Arts in jazz piano (2021).

 

In 2018, a major highlight of his career took place in New York: a composition of Korneel was performed in Carnegie Hall. Two years later, he had the chance to perform and premier another one of his compositions in the Opera City Hall in Tokyo. When not performing abroad, he spends most of his time teaching young children to play the piano and continues to work on his YouTube channel Cymbals and Keys.
